My name is Alberto Matiz and I am in my 50s. I am fortunate enough to have found a career in something that I truly love.
My passions are design, traveling, autos, and making sure that life is lived to its fullest potential. Family and friends are extremely important to me, and I have based my business on my core values, which are honesty, integrity, and passion.
The experience I have within the tailoring industry is extremely extensive. Tailoring has been my number one passion. It is something that has been embedded in my family for many generations.
Experience
Alberto has worked worldwide, having over 35 years of experience tailoring and altering the finest clothes. His passion and dedication grew at a young age, making his first bespoke jacket at the age of 12 with the help of his father. Alberto studied for 3 years in Colombia, specializing in wedding dresses, gowns, and leather clothing. He traveled to Ecuador, furthering his studies in tailoring all types of leather, from tannery to the most creative designs and confections of leather clothing. Satisfied with his extensive knowledge and skills, he worked at the most exclusive clothing chains in Colombia and managed the family tailoring business.
Alberto moved V.I.P. Alterations to Thousand Oaks, California 17 years ago, specializing in the highest quality trademark clothing that needs an expert tailor. It was not long before Mr. Matiz became recognized for his excellent work and customized service. He became highly recommended as the personal tailor for many famous clients, as referred to by prestigious shops like Hugo Boss and Salvatore Ferragamo. V.I.P. Alterations’ clients range from celebrities like Carlos PenaVega, Alexa PenaVega, director F. Gary Gray, and Pastor Touré Roberts to name a few.
Throughout our history, V.I.P. Alterations has mastered the art of making men’s and women’s clothing a perfect fit, working with fashion brands such as Carolina Herrera, Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Canali, and many more.
